Does your phone record calls?
Callogue reads recordings it does not create. If your phone doesn't save them, the app will do nothing for you – and it's better you find that out now than after installing it.
A one-minute test that gives a definite answer
There is no point looking for your model in a list, because what decides is the software region, not the model. The same phone records in India and does not record in Poland. So the only answer that won't go stale is the one you get on your own device:
- Call anyone and talk for about 20 seconds. A free helpline will do, or someone at home. If you can see a „Record" button on screen during the call – better still, press it.
- Open your file manager and go to the „Audio" category. If your file manager doesn't have one, use its search box and type
.mp3, then.m4aand.amr. - Sort by date and see whether a new file with today's time is at the top.
✅ There is one – you have a recorder that saves ordinary files. Callogue will have something to work with.
❌ There isn't – your phone either doesn't record, or keeps recordings somewhere you can't reach. Don't install it.
Callogue asks you to point it at a folder. If the recordings live inside a closed app, no folder contains them – and there is nothing to work around, on our side or yours.
What to expect from each brand
This is a cheat sheet, not a guarantee. The test above is what settles it. The biggest variable is not the manufacturer but the region the phone was released for – the same device bought in Poland and in India behaves differently.

There are guides online for switching the recorder back on where the manufacturer disabled it. We don't encourage them and we don't help with them – manufacturers disable the feature in Europe precisely because the rules on recording differ from country to country. Questions and answers
Does Callogue record my calls?
No. The app has no access to the microphone, does not take part in the call and starts nothing while it is going on. It works only on files that were created earlier and independently of it – the ones you point it to yourself.
My phone doesn't record. Will Callogue fix that?
No, and it cannot. The app does not add a recording feature to your phone – it reads what is already there. If the test above came out negative, installing it makes no sense.
Do I need root, or access to my whole phone storage?
No. You point the app at a single folder using the system picker, and that folder is all it can reach. It asks for no access to storage at large or to your call history.
Where do my recordings go?
First to our server in Warsaw, and from there to two independent providers that do not talk to each other:
- the recording file goes to Cloudflare (United States), where it is turned into text;
- the text of the transcript alone goes to a provider chosen by the language of the call – for Polish that is CloudFerro in Warsaw.
Your phone is the only place where the whole call exists in one piece. Details are in the privacy policy.
Do you keep my calls?
No. The recording is sent, processed and returned as a single operation. Our server stores no recordings, no transcripts and no summaries – only a counter of processed calls remains. The result is saved solely in your calendar, which you control.
Is recording calls legal?
It depends on the country you are in, and you are responsible for it, not us. In Poland, recording a call you are part of is generally allowed. Elsewhere it can be different – in some countries everyone on the call has to agree. Check what applies where you are; there is more in the terms, section 4.1. This is not legal advice.
Does the other person need to know the call is being recorded?
In several countries, yes – and that is a condition for the lawfulness of the recording itself, which existed before Callogue touched it. If you use the app professionally, for example for calls with clients, you become the controller of your caller's personal data and the duty to inform them falls on you. The app will not do it for you.
Do I have to create an account?
No. The app creates an anonymous account – no email address, no phone number, no name. You get an identifier used solely to count the calls you have processed.
Does it work without an internet connection?
No. Turning the recording into text and preparing the summary happen off the phone, so a connection is required. Without one, the app simply waits before processing the recording.
Will the entries block my day in the calendar?
No. Events created by Callogue are marked as free, so they do not affect your availability and do not clash with people inviting you to meetings. They carry no reminders either – apart from those that follow from a deadline agreed during the call.
How do I delete a call summary?
By deleting the calendar event. Since we keep no copy, removing the entry deletes the summary and the transcript at the same time. The recording itself stays where it was – your phone manages it, not us.
What about calls in languages other than Polish?
They work. The summary provider is chosen by the language of the call – for European Economic Area languages the processing stays in the EU. The consent screen in the app shows the current list of providers before anything is sent.
Does the app read my contacts or my call history?
Call history – never. Contacts – only if you allow it, and only when your recorder saves numbers without names. The app then looks that one number up in your address book so the calendar shows a person instead of a number. Matching happens on your phone: the name is never sent anywhere, the summary provider receives the number in its place, and you can switch it off in Settings.
Is there an iPhone version?
No. iOS does not make call recordings available to apps, so there would be nothing to read.
Test came out positive?
Then your phone saves calls as ordinary files – which is exactly what Callogue needs in order to turn them into calendar entries.
